What are Candlelighters Teams?

Teams are groups of people who have come together to raise funds and awareness for Candlelighters. They fundraise regularly and help to raise the profile of Candlelighters in their local community.

Could you be a Team?

Becoming a Team is a special way to support Candlelighters. You'll join a community of people who share the same vision as you - to give the best possible support to families affected by childhood cancer in Yorkshire. It's also a great way to recognise and combine the efforts of families, friends and local communities, who often join forces to fundraise.

We'll support you with tailored resources and materials as well as extra support throughout your fundraising. There are no set fundraising targets when forming a Team - you decide your own milestones and we celebrate with you when you reach them!

What kinds of fundraising do Teams do?

Over the years, our Teams have organised many different types of fundraising.

  • Physical challenges - like climbing Mount Snowdon and walking 100km in the Yorkshire Dales.
  • Community activities - organising school non-uniform days, bag packing at local supermarkets, golf days and balls.
  • In the workplace - using matched funding schemes and promoting Candlelighters for 'Charity of the Year'.
  • Organised events - taking part in marathons, 10ks and triathlons.
  • Seasonal - during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Pink It Up and Christmas.

These are just some examples of how our Teams support children and families through fundraising, but the sky is the limit!
