How regular donations help
Each year, 150 families in Yorkshire will hear the words "Your child has cancer". From that moment, their lives are changed forever. They need ongoing support for the long and challenging journey ahead. But we can't make that happen without people like you.
Regular donations are extra important as they help build sustainable, ongoing support for children with cancer and their families. Being able to count on your donation means we can focus on what really matters - making sure families don't face childhood cancer alone.

"People don’t like to think of childhood cancer, but when you are faced with it, the impact is indescribable on the whole family. We live with so much uncertainty, but we do know for certain that Candlelighters will be there to support us on our journey, whatever it looks like. And that is reassuring. I honestly couldn’t imagine going through a childhood cancer journey without their support. We will forever be grateful.”

Rosie's Story
By giving a regular donation, you can help families like Helen’s and children like Rosie. Rosie was diagnosed with a spinal tumour at just 15 months old, needing two nine-hour surgeries and 18 months of chemotherapy. Thanks to donations from people like you, Candlelighters supported Rosie and her family through the hardest time of their lives.
“I had some very lonely times in hospital but the Candlelighters team were always there to make a strong coffee, discuss issues or just chat about trashy TV. Their Family Support Workers helped Rosie avoid making too many negative associations with the hospital. They went above and beyond to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for her.
Both my husband and I utilised the Talking Therapy sessions provided by Candlelighters. After every session, I would feel like a weight had lifted from my shoulders. I can’t articulate the difference this made to my mental health - it ensured I was strong enough to support and care for Rosie.
Candlelighters also provided little treats and luxuries that we would never have prioritised. We will forever be grateful for the holiday to Centre Parcs when Rosie was on chemotherapy. The children still talk about it – it’s such a wonderful memory during a difficult time, and truly provided our whole family with some respite."
Your regular donation can ensure families like Rosie’s have someone to turn to when their world is turned upside down. Whether it’s providing wellbeing and therapy services, bringing fun and relief, practical support when living in hospital, or financial support with increased costs. You can help bring light in the darkest of times.

Without our community of over 200 regular givers, we simply wouldn’t be able to achieve the same level of support for children and families like Rosie’s. You can join them in making a difference.
