How trusts & foundations help
In our history of over 45 years, we have never provided more support for families than right now. This vital work is made possible by the incredible funding we receive from trusts and foundations.
From frontline hospital support and practical services, to respite holidays and life-changing research, your help ensures families facing childhood cancer have the care and resources they need. Every trust and foundation we work with, big or small, offers families a lifeline when they need it most.

Why support us
Receiving a childhood cancer diagnosis is devastating. As well as the emotional toll, families are often faced with new practical and financial challenges that they never could have predicted. Candlelighters' mission is to bring light to these families by providing emotional, practical and financial support and hope by investing in vital childhood cancer research.
We are experts at providing tailored and holistic support to families when they need it most and thanks to the generosity of trusts and foundations, we are always doing more.

How to support us
We want to build mutually beneficial partnerships with our supporters. Whether you'd like to fund a specific project or support our wider goals as a charity, a dedicated member of our team will work with you to find what works best for you and us.
Your gift could be singular or part of a multi-year pledge, helping to provide stability for our services. Trusts and foundations looking to make a multi-year pledge may consider joining Club Candlelighters alongside people and organisations committing their long-term support for children with cancer. Any and all donations are very gratefully received.
We also value the experience and expertise trusts and foundations can offer and appreciate working closely with supporters to help inform our work.

Are you part of a trust or foundation that would like to work with us? Get in touch with our Trust and Foundation Specialist, Jenny.

In return for your generous support, you can expect detailed, personalised reporting on the impact of your grant, bringing you even closer to the people you are supporting. We'll keep you up to date with our latest news and invite you to exclusive events for our valued supporters. And we'd love to welcome you to our family support centre, The Square, so you can see first-hand how your support is changing lives.
We'll gladly work together to achieve wider recognition of your support too, if this is something you'd like.
How have trusts & foundations helped us?
The Sir James Reckitt Charity has provided unrestricted support for Candlelighters, funding the core staff hours that make our support possible.
“The Sir James Reckitt Charity was established in May 1921 to support charitable causes particularly in Kingston upon Hull and East Yorkshire, with some priority being given to children’s causes. The Trustees were particularly impressed with the work Candlelighters does to support families affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire, providing emotional, practical, and financial assistance, and we are pleased to continue supporting the essential work Candlelighters undertakes.” - The Sir James Reckitt Charity
The Susie P Foundation has generously funded the Candlelighters Cottage for three years, meaning families have a comfortable place to stay near their child while they receive treatment.
"The Susie P Charitable Foundation is a small local charity set up to provide support for children in West Yorkshire. The funding comes from a legacy left by the late Susan Pruchniewicz, who passed away from cancer in 2007. The Susie P Charity funds specific projects, identified by Candlelighters, that cannot be funded through existing resources. The Susie P Charity firmly believes that the support given to Candlelighters is the best outcome for the charity to achieve its objectives and we are pleased to continue to help with the fantastic work undertaken by Candlelighters.” - The Susie P Charitable Foundation
