Our Family Support Workers will be on the wards helping bring festive joy through events, activities, decorations, and even visits from Santa. Tom and Dee spent last Christmas in hospital with three year old Finn. It was a frightening and isolating time. “We came to terms with the fact that Christmas was not going to be with our family or friends. I think we mentally said, ‘Christmas isn’t happening, it’s cancelled’, but we worried how that would be for Finn” Tom explained. But your kind donations helped bring Christmas magic and made precious happy memories during their darkest days. “The bits we didn’t have any headspace for, Candlelighters came to our rescue. They arranged a visit from Santa, who spoke to us on the phone. He put his finger to the window, sending Finn some Christmas magic, and suddenly a present appeared under the covers of his bed. Finn was blown away.”
Spending time in hospital can feel isolating, especially during the festive season, when families just want to be together and enjoy the magic of Christmas.
