We are absolutely delighted that our Company of the Month for July is P.J Staffing! Following the return of Pink It Up Weekender last month, P.J Staffing’s commitment, dedication and support over the weekend raised an incredible £11,516 for children and young people with cancer.
Communities and businesses came together across Leeds, York and Harrogate during Pink It Up week to fundraise through a range of activities, whether it was a silent auction, raffle, live performances or donating proceeds from profits, all to raise vital funds for the services we provide.
The weekend brought together a network of venues across Yorkshire and reached thousands of people, raising awareness about the work Candlelighters does.
The highlight of Pink It Up Weekender was the Big Pink Light Switch On! Back bigger and better this year, 11 venues lit up pink across the region in support of families affected by childhood cancer, including Leeds Town Hall, York City Walls and Clifford’s Tower.
Paul McCallum, Managing Director at P.J Staffing said, “Since being part of the Candlelighters family and community since April 2025, initially committing to a pledge of £5,000 a year for three years was daunting, so to be able to say after just 15 months P.J Staffing has raised in excess of £23,000 is just humbling.
This wouldn’t have been possible without our friends, family, local community and local businesses across Leeds and York. Our contribution will make a huge impact to children and their families with cancer across Yorkshire. We’re proud and honoured to be able to support this wonderful charity.”
P.J Staffing was also recently recognised at the Yorkshire Choice Awards, receiving Yorkshire’s Charitable Business of the Year 2026, for the work they do supporting Candlelighters, and for their Pink It Up Weekender.
Over the last 15 months, P.J Staffing has raised over £15,000 for families facing childhood cancer through their fundraising – a fantastic milestone reflected by this well-deserved achievement.
Candlelighters was also delighted to join P.J Staffing at York Pride this year, a fantastic day to celebrate Pride in York, our partnership with P.J Staffing and raising awareness of the support Candlelighters offers across Yorkshire.
