As 2025 draws to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a truly special festive season at Candlelighters… one filled with magical moments for children and families affected by childhood cancer. “As 2025 draws to a close, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Candlelighters this year. Whether you’ve fundraised, volunteered or donated, you’ve helped us be there for children and families affected by childhood cancer. I wish you and your loved ones a very Happy Christmas.” Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve been able to turn up the sparkle for families spending Christmas in hospital, creating moments of joy when they’re needed most. Throughout December, the wards at Leeds Children’s Hospital have been filled with festive cheer. From parties and pizza to hot chocolate, games, secret shopping and even reindeer visits, our Family Support Workers have been going the extra mile to make sure children don’t miss out on the Christmas fun just because they’re in hospital. On Sunday 14th, families joined us for our annual Candlelighters Christmas Party, and what a day it was! Families came together for a day full of festive fun… the party was packed with games, activities, stalls and entertainment. We had special guests including Disney princesses, characters from Star Wars, the Grinch and, of course a magical visit to Santa’s grotto. We also held our annual wreath-making workshops for mums and grandparents, giving families affected by childhood cancer some time for themselves and the chance to connect with others who truly understand, with support from the Candlelighters team. Everyone went home with a beautiful wreath, making it a really special afternoon. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Our CEO, Emily, says:
