Today we’d like to say a massive thank you and good luck to the members of Junior Team George who will be scaling the famous Penyghent of the Yorkshire Dales.

The group of children aged 8-15 will take on the 11km scramble today in aid of Candlelighters and as part of the wider Team George fundraising group. If you’ve followed us for a while, you might be familiar with some of the brilliant fundraising efforts of Team George – founded by Mark and Helen, after their son George was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2013, aged just two. The family were supported by Candlelighters and since then, they have thrown themselves into an array of fundraising challenges over the years including impressive physical challenges like summit climbs and long-distance hikes.

Following in their footsteps, Junior Team George have shown the same commitment and dedication to fundraising for Candlelighters too – with George himself even joining them for the Penyghent climb today!

With the date being rescheduled due to COVID restrictions, two of the members were unable to make the new date, but not to be defeated, the fabulous Erin and Caitlin (pictured) completed the challenge anyway.

So far the Junior Team have raised over £1000 for Candlelighters and we couldn’t be more grateful – you are all amazing!
