A little help goes a long way

The financial impact of a children’s cancer diagnosis can be an additional battle families have to fight. Because  we were set up by families and medics we know this and in response we  offer practical financial support where we can.

On diagnosis it can take up to twelve weeks to receive disability living allowance. During this tough period there can be a lot of traveling between home and the LGI, there can be lost earnings, there can be costs mounting for sibling childcare. We offer every family a grant of £600 during this period, broken up into £200 chunks to help make things a little easier.

Families who have one of our funded holidays while on treatment will receive a small grant to spend while they are away. This might help with travel costs, it could buy activities to create some special family memories or it could simply buy the groceries.

Other grants are also available for families, simply contact us or discuss options with your Social Worker for more information.
