This May, 5000 people took part in Gung-Ho! one of Leeds’ newest and most exciting challenge events.

Held at Temple Newsam,  the event saw participants take on the world’s biggest bouncy inflatable and Europe’s tallest inflatable slide as part of a 5k obstacle course.

Candlelighters were selected as the event’s local charity partner. As such, the event saw Candlelighters supporters and volunteers descend to raise funds and awareness of childhood cancer.

One such supporter was Mum Liz Firth, who took on the challenge with other members of #TeamHollie. Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post about why she was supporting Candlelighters, Liz said “From the minute she was diagnosed they have been there. They have helped to keep all of our spirits up, helped us deal with the disease and even arranged to send us on a week’s holiday together. We wouldn’t have gotten through it without them.”

Here at Candlelighters we would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all those who organised, took part in, volunteered at and supported the event. We’re excited to see what Gung-Ho course they dream up in 2017!
