This summer, we held our Family Fun Day at Bramhope Scout Campsite and Activity Centre, where children and family members joined us for a day full of fun, laughter, and special memories.
We were delighted to welcome families from across Yorkshire, including those currently on treatment, post-treatment, and bereaved families, giving everyone the chance to relax, connect, and spend quality time together.
The day was packed with activities! Children and parents enjoyed bouncing on inflatables, racing in classics like the egg and spoon, sack race, and parents’ races, and trying their hand at tin can alley and the bean bag throw. Our balloon modeller, magician, and face painters brought plenty of smiles, while the crafts station gave little ones the chance to get creative.
Of course, no fun day would be complete without delicious food. Families tucked into pizza, ice cream, and a variety of snacks, while our popular tombola brought excitement and some wonderful prizes.
One parent told us:
“We had an amazing day at the Candlelighters Family Fun Day at Bramhope. It was really nice to meet and catch up with families we have met along the way. Candlelighters bring light to families’ darkest days and for that we thank you.”
And our Community Support Worker, Lori, said:
“The Family Fun Day is a wonderful chance for families to come together for a relaxed day where they can truly unwind. Watching them make memories and spend quality time in a comfortable, supportive environment is what it’s all about. It was clear how much the day meant to them, and we’re incredibly grateful to the volunteers who ensured everything ran smoothly – we couldn’t have done it without them.”
