Can you have a #CandlelightersBigNightIn?

In such unprecedented times, families across the UK are facing challenges like never before, but for families affected by childhood cancer whose lives have already been turned upside down, COVID-19 is making life more difficult than ever.

The Candlelighters Big Night In is just one way to help fill our Candlelighters Together Tin, to keep our candle burning so we can bring light to families in these darkest of times.

We want YOU to have a Big Night In, and donate the money you might have spent on a Big Night Out.

We are delighted that the #CandlelightersBigNightIn has raised over £5,000 so far!

As we all now have to stay at home and distance ourselves from the people we love and the places we love to visit, having a Big Night In is a fun way for us to come together to support children with cancer in Yorkshire, one of the most vulnerable groups in our community.

You can do the Big Night In your way!

  • Get dressed up to the nines and cook a slap up meal.
  • Order a takeaway, pop that popcorn and watch a movie.
  • Have a partaaay! Get the music on loud and shake it around the lounge on Facetime to your mates.
  • Hold a board game competition for you and the family.

Whatever suits you!

And you can have a Big Night In whenever you want to – every night brings an opportunity to support Candlelighters!

Please continue to post your pictures and selfies with the hashtag #CandlelightersBigNightIn

“We had an amazing time having a Big Night In for Candlelighters! We got dressed up for the first time in a while (and actually put some make up on!) and my friends and I all said cheers on a video call! We cooked a lovely meal, lit a candle for Candlelighters, and then had a bit of a dance! We donated what we might have spent had we gone out with our friends for a drink instead.” Jane, Candlelighters supporter

Whether your donation is big or small, you will help us to keep our candle burning and bring light to families affected by childhood cancer in Yorkshire.

It’s simple, invite your friends, family and/or colleagues to your very own #CandlelightersBigNightIn and donate what you might have spent on a Big Night Out!

Pledge now to donate to the Candlelighters Together Tin and keep our candle burning to bring light to our families in these darkest of times:

In the years since Candlelighters was formed, survival rates for children with cancer have greatly improved. In October, we were overjoyed when we were chosen as children’s charity of the year at the Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards! The awards began in 2011 to recognise the region’s bravest and most courageous children and young adults as well as the charities that support them.
