Eleven year old Tom Dixon from Norton is planning a mammoth scooter ride, to raise funds for Candlelighters after we supported one of his family members.

Tom said, “I am riding my scooter from Malton to Staxton (about 15 miles) on Saturday 17th March because I wish to support this amazing charity. My second cousin Sienna who is 4, was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a high grade brain tumour, in July 2016.”

Candlelighters have supported his family from offering complimentary treatments & ‘time out’ when they have endured many weeks & months in hospital, to providing them with a family holiday to Centre Parcs.

Tom’s family friends have also been supported by Candlelighters when Freddie, aged 5 was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Community Fundraiser, Jen Aspinall commented saying, “We are so pleased that Tom wanted to do this for us! To take on such a massive challenge at such a young age is incredible and we can’t thank him and his family enough”

Tom has already raised over £400 and Candlelighters would like to wish Tom the best of luck in his scooter ride and say thank you for his incredible fundraising efforts! The money raised is going to make a huge difference to families facing childhood cancer across Yorkshire.
