Helping where we can, when we can
Candlelighters is a big family. And like any family, we look after each other. Anyone touched by children’s cancer, no matter how long ago, is considered a member. Our job? To bring this family together and make sure each person can get the support they need, whether that’s a funded holiday, or just a cup of tea and a chat.
The Square is a home away from home. A space away from the hospital wards where any person affected by childhood cancer can go to relax, share and be bolstered by an understanding community. It’s a warm and inviting place where parents can talk, cry, laugh and share in a friendly environment.
We also have an office in the Clarendon Wing of Leeds General Infirmary which allows us to be close to the families and children being treated there. Our fundraisers based here are constantly amazed by the ideas our families have and the incredible amount of funds they raise. This office also offers a place for families to come with enquiries, to pick up holiday forms or buy some of our colourful Candlelighters’ merchandise.
