Venue Sports and Music Bar Have Raised an Incredible total of £4915 through a coffee morning which they held in November.

In November Venue Sports and Music Bar, located on Cavendish Street in Skipton, held a coffee morning to raise money for Candlelighters. Throughout the morning they had coffee, cakes and a raffle as well as other fundraising activities which all helped to raise the incredible total of £4915!

Previously Venue had raised money for various other local and national charities however for this event they decided to support Candlelighters in support of five-year-old, Maddie from Skipton. Maddie was diagnosed with Leukaemia in 2018 and since then has been receiving treatment at the Leeds Children’s Hospital. Throughout this time Maddie’s family have been supported by us too.

Gina from Candlelighters said “The fundraising by Venue Sports and Music Bar has been incredible. To raise so much from a single event is absolutely fantastic and will make such a positive difference to the children and families supported by Candlelighters. There is such a great community in Skipton and we are so grateful for everyone’s support.”

Leah Pompey from Venue Sports and Music Bar said “We decided to support Candlelighters in honour and support of local girl Maddie Jameson, who, back in June, aged just five years old, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. The Candlelighters Trust have been a huge support to Maddie and the Jameson/Hodgkiss family.

We were astonished by the support we received from local businesses and residents alike. Everyone wanted to do their bit. From donating raffle and tombola prizes, to baking cakes and the many volunteers we had on the day helping us write out raffle tickets.

When I started I was aiming to raise at least £1000 for Candlelighters so the total raised well out did that. The day itself was great, it was very humbling to see everyone come together and support such a great cause.

Most of all we would like to say a big THANK YOU to each and every person who played their part in helping raise such an incredible amount.”
