Candlelighters are very excited to announce that this Christmas, Al Jardine of the Beach Boys has released festive tune “Hurry Up, Hurry Up, Santa Claus”, to raise funds for Candlelighters, following the diagnosis of Skipton patient Tom Slater!

Described as “a Christmas song with a nostalgic swing feel, beautiful harmonies and that signature Al Jardine vocal” the song was co-written by Al Jardine, Scott Bennet and Bill Roach. Explaining his choice to use the song to raise funds for children’s cancer charities, Al Jardine said he asked himself “wouldn’t it be great if Santa could hurry up and deliver cures for children?”.

When deciding which children’s charity he would like to support, 2016 Golden Globe nominated Scott Bennett didn’t have to think too long. A family friend of Tom Slater, who was diagnosed with cancer just last December aged 10, Scott said “it made perfect sense to get involved with a charity that is close to my heart. Tom was an inspiration all last year”.

Prolific fundraiser and supporter of Candlelighters Shiona Slater said “The support that we received from Candlelighters following Tom’s diagnosis was incredible and we want to help to make sure that they continue to support other families in the fight against children’s’ cancer.”
