Lady Ingilby and Bogdah

We were honoured this week to welcome our Patron, Lady Emma Ingilby, to Candlelighters. Lady Ingilby met patients, parents, play leaders, nursing staff and doctors on her tour of the hospital.

She was able to talk to families about their experiences and the difference that Candlelighters makes for them. On arrival at the Children’s Oncology Clinic, she met a young man who had been diagnosed with cancer in 2003 and was bringing in a donation from his family. His Mum remarked, “We have a lot to say thank you for. That is why we keep supporting Candlelighters.”

Lady Ingilby was introduced to the Play Team and was very interested in talking to Natalie about the Beads of Courage that are awarded to children for all the different appointments and treatments they have. She then met families in the Teenage Unit and Children’s Oncology Wards, along with our Dinner Lady, Elaine, who told her all about enticing children to eat by making sure she gets them their favourite food wherever possible.

Lady Ingilby likes to get involved with Candlelighters personally by attending and speaking at events and she once again welcomed us to Ripley Castle for us to hold our abseiling event this year. She loves to catch up with staff and meet families so that she can spread the news about the difference we are making.

We would like to thank her for all her hard work and enthusiasm as our Patron.
