On the 11th Feburary 2018, family and friends of Skye Sutcliffe brought the community of Middleton together and held their 4th annual Running for Skye, A 5KM family fun run, at Middleton Park in memory of Sky Sutcliffe who sadly passed away after battling with a rare form of cancer known as Biphenotypic Leukaemia.
This year, the event had over 70 runners and raised just over £1200 and in total, Skye’s family and friends have raised in excess of £30K in Skye’s name.
The Lord Mayor, Cllr Jane Dowson attended the event and commented on how impressed she was at the real sense of team effort from Skye’s family and friends who remained optimistic despite the weather!

Skye’s family have now opened Skye Pie’s Soft Play in Allerton Bywater, a busy soft play centre in Skye’s memory that will continue to raise funds for Candlelighters in her name. The family told us, “We are very appreciative and hugely thankful for all that Candlelighters did to support Skye. Four years ago our family was changed forever, literally in the blink of an eye. The least we can do is continue to raise funds and awareness.”
Community fundraiser, Rebecca Swithenbank commented and said, “We are so grateful to families like Skye’s who put in so much effort to fundraise and enable us to support other ordinary families in extraordinary circumstances”.
