Food Industry Associates were recently delighted to break the £2000 mark in their incredible rowing fundraiser for Candlelighters. In their words, hear about their achievement.

Leeds based company Food Industry Associates took on a demanding 21-mile row on Friday in aid of Yorkshire’s children’s cancer charity, Candlelighters.

Food Industry Associates, who recruit sales positions for the food industry, have supported Candlelighters since 2013 and raised over £2,000 tackling the Yorkshire 3 Peaks last year.

This year the team swapped hiking boots for oars and took to the water to row 2 lengths of Lake Windermere, a distance equivalent to the English Channel.

It was a challenge that took almost 7 and a half hours, with heavy winds and rough water making the challenge even tougher for the second half of the row.

Rob Hawes, Director at Food Industry Associates said “I am extremely pleased with the efforts of all the team at Food Industry Associates.

Teamwork is key for a challenge like this and it was great to see everyone pull together and give each other support.”

“Once again I am overwhelmed by the generosity of people’s donations and I am thrilled we have managed to raise £2,000 again for Candlelighters”.

Based in Yorkshire, Candlelighters provide essential practical, emotional and financial support and services to children with cancer and their families.

The charity is formed and run by parents of children who have or have had cancer, ex-patients and the medical staff who treat them.
