Mark's Story

Mark Gallimore, a supporter from York, has gone above and beyond for Candlelighters since his son, George completed his 3-year long treatment for Leukemia.

Since 2014, Mark has pounded the pavements and smashed the summits, conquering amazing 292 miles in total.

In 2017, he took part in four 10K’s, The Great North Run, The Yorkshire Marathon, The Yorkshire 6 Peaks and the Total Warrior Challenge.

Mark said; “If I can make a difference to a family by fundraising, the blisters and sore muscles are worth it. It is nothing compared to what the children have to go through. I started fundraising for Candlelighters to say thank you for looking after George”.

In 2018 Mark is set to take push himself even further and take part in seven 10K’s including Leeds and York, seven half marathons, The Yorkshire Marathon, The Wharfedale 3 Peaks walking challenge and Thirlmere walking challenge. Mark aims to complete 211.3 miles in 2018 bringing his total mile count to 503 miles since he began fundraising.
