Inspired by Jonny Gilberts year of fundraising, Ashville College’s class of Year 7 (now year 8 woo!) organised an amazing week of fundraising in support of Candlelighters.

Students of Year 7 gave an assembly informing the full year group about the support Candlelighters provide, before fundraising their way through the action packed week ahead! From student’s VS teachers to Karaoke – it was all happening:

Monday
Crounders match

Tuesday
Sponsored silence (all of Year 7)

Wednesday
Hoops against the Headmaster and goals against the teachers

Thursday
Karaoke and baking for the staff

Friday
Egg drop, egg and spoon races and baking for the staff

“I had the pleasure of attending the Hoops against the Headmaster and Goals against the Teachers day at Ashville College. The atmosphere and team spirit was incredible! To see so many students come together to fundraise and to hear they had come up with all the ideas themselves was truly amazing. They’re all such an inspiration and should be so proud of what they achieved throughout the week!” Chloe, Community Fundraiser Candlelighters.

A phenomenal total of £1199.17 was raised over the course of the week which is just amazing! Without the kind generosity from our amazing supporters like Ashville College we couldn’t continue to support children and families affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire.

In the years since Candlelighters was formed, survival rates for children with cancer have greatly improved.
