Family and friends of Maci Craddock have recently raised over £17,000 in her memory.

They held a charity auction evening filled with live music at Ponderosa’s Lakeside Restaurant in March, in aid of Candlelighters, Ward 52 at Leeds Children’s Hospital and Forget Me Not Hospice.

Maci Craddock was diagnosed with a brain tumour while on holiday in August 2017, and passed away two months later, aged just 13. Whilst on treatment Maci was adamant about raising money and supporting other families facing similar situations.

Susan, Maci’s Mum said:  “Maci never got chance to visit The Square, but I’m sure she would have loved it. Ruby loves going and enjoys every visit, she can make things for Maci and remember her. Tracy met Ruby at the hospital and helped us so much, she explained things to Ruby. We are so grateful for all the help and support and can’t thank you Candlelighters enough. It eases my mind that Ruby is involved with the siblings group because other children she meets are in similar situations.  The support is fantastic and we need to raise money to help other families in similar situations.  Maci would be amazed and proud we are doing this. Nobody knows what life springs upon you and we need places like Candlelighters to help and support when heart breaking things happen.  Not sure we would be coping without the support.”
