Andrew and James at Alpha Engineering (Selby) ltd wanted to raise money for Candlelighters because they felt it we are a fantastic charity who support so many families across the Yorkshire area.

James was willing to do a head shave and Andrew had lots of contacts through friends and family to help him raise money for Candlelighters.

Andrew commented saying, “I’m inspired by the work of Candlelighters, this is a charity close to me and my families hearts and I wanted to support them by raising money.”

The money raised is going to be put towards the Candlelighters Cottage campaign, which will provide a home from home provision, for families travelling to Leeds Children’s Hospital for cancer treatment on ward 33.

Community Fundraiser, Jen Aspinall said, “It was a fantastic gesture for James to shave his head as this is a massive challenge for anyone and the fact they have raised over £1500 is incredible and is a wonderful donation to the cottage funds!”

Initially the target was set at £500 but swiftly increased to £1000 so to achieve over £1500 was brilliant.

Candlelighters would like to say a huge thank you to both Andrew and James for their fundraising efforts and particularly the head shave, the money raised is going to make a huge difference to families facing childhood cancer across Yorkshire.
