Fisical Sports Coaching work with schools and pre-schools throughout West Yorkshire to deliver sports coaching, as well as activities at their sports centre in Baildon. Company owners, Tom and James, are keen on raising money for local charities and have previously raised £521 for Sports Relief. This year they have decided to take their fundraising to the next level. They have a variety of physical challenges which they are taking on throughout 2019 including: the Settle Half Marathon, Canoeing Lake Windemere, the Yorkshire Three Peaks, the Great North Swim, Rough Runner, a coast to coast cycle and the Yorkshire Marathon, to name just a few!
They are hoping to raise awareness and funds for Candlelighters. Candlelighters support children and families affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire. The support they offer includes financial grants, holidays for families with a child on treatment, emotional support including talking therapies as well as funding staff roles, equipment and research at the Leeds Children’s Hospital.
The Fisical Sports Coaching team decided to choose the charity to work with because it is a charity very close to their hearts. On 31st March 2005 Dave, Tom and James, from Fisical Sports, lost a very close friend 17 year old Chris Smith to cancer, a couple of years later on 4 February 2008 Chris’ niece Chloe also lost her battle with cancer at the age of just 4 years old.
Tom and James, owners of Fisical Sports Coaching and David Bray said “The support Chris’ family received from Candlelighters was fantastic and we would love to show our appreciation to them by raising as much money throughout the year as possible.”
