Friends, Clare and Karen, (AKA The Blister Sisters) have recently taken on the Trekfest challenge, walking an incredible 50KM across the Peak District, to raise money for Candlelighters.

They decided to take on the challenge after Clare’s son and Karen’s Godson was supported by Candlelighters after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2013. He was in hospital for just under one year and during that time, Candlelighters provided emotional, practical and financial support to Oscar himself, his siblings and the rest of his family.

Clare and Karen, commented saying, “Oscar is now back at school and is making slow, steady and positive progress.  During his time in hospital, and closely thereafter, Candlelighters and the various support staff were on hand regularly to support him, helping to make the ward a more child friendly place to be.”

Originally the pair set a target of £2500 to raise however they have smashed this goal and raised an amazing amount which is just under £6500!

From everyone here at Candlelighters we would like to say a massive thank you and well done to both Clare and Karen in their fundraising, the money raised is going to make a huge difference to families facing childhood cancer and it is people like you who allow us to do what we do.
