Over the last 12 months the Candlelighters team have planned and launched The Square, a brand new family support centre to support families facing children’s cancer. One of the challenges the team faced was how to store all their merchandise and seasonal products once the building was in use.
The basement at The Square, now a fantastic space used for family support including a sibling group, was once filled with all these items and the question of storage was one that the team couldn’t answer.
When works began to transform The Square, Candlelighters spoke to the fantastic team at Big Yellow Self Storage just off Gelderd Road, Leeds. The company take their support for the community seriously and were able to offer Candlelighters some free storage saving well over £1000 for the charity for the year.
Kris Taylor, the store manager at Big Yellow Leeds, commented “Here at Big Yellow Self Storage we like to do our bit for the community and by offering free storage to selected community groups who need our support, we help them to save money and make the most of donations. We are happy to help where we can.”
Kate Goldring from Candlelighters added “The support Big Yellow have offered us is great as it has really helped us to save funds that can now directly support families touched by children’s cancer, we can’t thank them enough!”
“Big Yellow Self Storage is playing to their strengths and helping charities like Candlelighters save money, we would love to talk to other businesses that feel they could do something to support us using their own unique set of skills and expertise.”
