A new art installation has been revealed in the garden at the Candlelighters Cottage for families staying at the home from home accommodation to enjoy. The cottage will enable families to stay together when their child is being treated at Leeds Children’s Hospital for cancer.
The artwork is aptly titled “Hope”; made from steel the reflective surface brings colour from neighbouring trees into the space and lots of light. The aim is to ensure the garden is a bright and enjoyable outdoor space, away from the hospital environment.
The piece was generously designed, manufactured and installed by the Lazenby Group. Managing Director, Neil Sewell told us, “The idea behind the design was all about the children, seeing the world through their eyes. I am extremely happy to have been involved in supporting such a worthwhile cause. Candlelighters support families financially, emotionally and practically and the Cottage is another way they will be there for families.”
A unique opportunity to sponsor a piece of the artwork has been made available and Marie Peacock, Head of Income Development at the charity told us, “Supporters can go on to our website shop and sponsor a particular piece of the art installation. We will be producing a commemorative booklet that will feature the sponsor’s name, or the name of a loved one if they choose to do this in memory. They will each receive a copy of this unique booklet and by sponsoring a piece of Hope they are leaving a lasting legacy for families we support in the future.”
