What is Candlelighters?
Established in 1976, Candlelighters is a charity formed and run by parents of children who have or have had cancer, ex-patients and the medical staff who treat them. Based in Yorkshire, Candlelighters provides essential services and support to children with cancer and their families.

The BIG move
2011 saw the completion of the first phase of our Big Move Appeal with the transfer of the Children's and Adolescent Cancer Unit to Leeds General Infirmary. Now that the inpatient and outpatient facilities are in the same building it's much easier for patients to move between clinic and ward.

Described as "the world’s biggest half marathon" and attracting around 52,000 runners, this year’s Great North Run takes place on Sunday 16 September 2012.
